Lincoln Lead the Film Nominations at the Golden Globes with 7, but watch out for Django Unchained!

How do the the nominations from the Holly Foreign Press Association (HFPA) inform the Oscar nominations for the future.  Do the nominations impact the Academy Awards?  They do and they don't, as per usual, but some films will see an increased awareness.
The film to get the biggest bump today was Django Unchained.  Django had recieved nominations at the Critics Choice, some minor attention from critics groups, but was snubbed altogether by SAG.  Django is one of the most nominated films at the Globes this year with 5 nominations.  The Weinsteins are master strategists, and they went with their best pony on the drama side, Django.  As attention for The Master has died down, Harvey needed to boost the attention for Django (my guess) and what ebtter way than the Globes.  Djano recieved two Supporting Actor nominations for DiCaprio and Waltz, along with a director nominations and writing nomination for Tarantino.
Quentin Tarantino's directing nomination came at the expense of another director of a Weinstein film Tom Hooper for Les Miserable.  Hooper's snub is the most shocking snub of the day.  The film is groomed for Oscar, and is a "director's film."
The other films which recieved the most nominations Argo with 5 nominations, Zero Dark Thirty with 4, and Silver Linings Playbook with 4.  DeNiro's omission was not as surprising from this group.  The Supporting Actor category is one of the most competative this year.
Lincoln however leads the pack with 7 nominations, recieveing one nomination in every catergoy it was eligible, except Original Song.  Going into the night this film is the favorite, and is also the favorite to win Best Picture.
As Lincoln is poised to be the frontrunner, there is proof this award show has legitamcy, but does Django's recent awards boost mean it too could be a front runner?  Without any support from SAG this film could and will get a few major nominations, but without support from the actor's branch do not treat Django as a major threat just yet.
