Emmy Predictions (May 2014)

Outstanding Drama Series
Locks
1-Breaking Bad (AMC)
2-Game of Thrones (HBO)
3-House of Cards (Netflix)
Safe Bet
4-True Detective (HBO)
Running at the Back of the Pack (in this order)
5-Downton Abbey (PBS)
6-Homeland (SHOW)
7-Mad Men (AMC)
Spoilers
8-Masters of Sex
9-The Good Wife

With only two episodes left of Mad Men, I am torn on how this show will do.  I personally think this season is even weaker than last season, and I think people have noticed.  Could the four time winner be booted?  SAG shut out the series, and it did poorly at the Golden Globes.  The Emmy Awards usually beat to their own drum, but being shunned by actors is not a good sign.  Meanwhile Homeland was nominated, but is also not being pushed by Showtime as strongly as Masters of Sex and Ray Donovan, probably because Homeland has Emmy history.  I am going to cheat and go out on a limb and say their will be seven nominees.  I would also argue to watch out for the spoilers, Masters of Sex and The Good Wife.  Wife has tons of buzz, and Showtime is pushing Sex.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series
Bryan Cranston-Breaking Bad
John Hamm-Mad Men
Woody Harrelson-True Detective
Matthew McConaughey-True Detective
Kevin Spacey-House of Cards
James Spader-The Blacklist

At the moment I am set on this list, but watch out for Michael Sheen from Masters of Sex, I think he could beat out one of these men, maybe even John Hamm.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series
Clare Danes-Homeland
Julianna Margulies-The Good Wife
Vera Famiga-Bate's Motel Elisabeth Moss-Mad Men
Robin Wright-House of Cards
Kerry Washington-Scandal

Reality check time, Farmiga, will get in ahead of Maslany, these look like the solid six nominees.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
Josh Charles-The Good Wife
Peter Dinklage-Game of Thrones
Dean Norris-Breaking Bad
Aaron Paul-Breaking Bad
Jon Voight-Ray DonovanJeffrey Wright-Boardwalk Empire

Showtime has put its might behind Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex more, and with Voight's name out there he is likely to be a nominee (replaced Jim Carter-Downton Abbey).

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Christine Baranski-The Good Wife
Emilia Clarke-Game of Thrones
Anna Gunn-Breaking Bad
Christina Hendricks-Mad Men
Michelle Monaghan-True Detective
Maggie Smith-Downton Abbey

Keeping this list, pretty stable at the moment, but Bellamy Young from Scandal should be here.

Outstanding Comedy Series
Locks1-Modern Family (ABC)
2-Veep (HBO)
3-The Big Bang Theory (CBS)
4-Louie (F/X)
Running the Back of the Pack
5-Brooklyn Nine-Nine (FOX)
6-Orange is the New Black (Netflix)
7-Girls

I think both series categories will have seven, but I could be wrong.  I think Girls lost its "cool" factor, but it had a fantastic season, and was great.  Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Orange is the New Black have a lot going for them.  I think the top four are the closest things to locks you can find.  I would like to see Veep win this year.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
Don Cheadle-House of Lies
Johnny Galecki-The Big Bang Theory
Louis C.K.-Louie
Jim Parsons-The Big Bang Theory
Andy Samberg-Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Robin Williams-The Crazy Ones

Keeping this the same!

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
Julia Louis-Dreyfus-Veep
Lena Dunham-Girls
Edie Falco-Nurse Jackie
Melissa McCarthy-Mike and Molly
Amy Poehler-Parks and Recreation
Taylor Schilling-Orange is the New Black

Keeping this the same!

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Andre Braugher-Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Ty Burrell-Modern Family
Adam Driver-Girls
Jesse Tyler Ferguson-Modern Family
Tony Hale-Veep
Ed O'Neil-Modern Family

I want to replace a MF guy with someone from Brooklyn 99, but I am not sure the show is that strong, so this will stay the same for the moment.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
Julie Bowen-Modern Family
Mayim Bialik-The Big Bang Theory
Allison Janney-Mom
Margo Martindale-We're the Millers
Sofia Vergara-Modern Family
Merritt Wever-Nurse Jackie

Keeping it for now, but I am not sure how popular Mom will be,.
