Golden Globe Predictions (Film) 2013

BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
12 YEARS A SLAVE
Plan B Entertainment, New Regency Productions and River Road Entertainment; Fox Searchlight Pictures
CAPTAIN PHILLIPS
Columbia Pictures; Sony Pictures Releasing
GRAVITY
Warner Bros. Pictures / Esperanto Filmoj / Heyday Films; Warner Bros. Pictures
PHILOMENA
Pathe, BBC Films, BFI, Canal+, Cine+, Baby Cow/Magnolia Mae; The Weinstein Company
RUSH
Universal Pictures, Cross Creek Pictures, Exclusive Media, Imagine Entertainment, Working Title, Revolution Films; Universal Pictures
This is a two horse race, and my money is on Gravity, like in years past this awards group picks the more popular re-watchable film, and that's Gravity.  12 Years a Slave is a very close number two, but I think this is where Gravity comes out on top, easily.
Will Win-Gravity, Spoiler-12 Years a Slave
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine
Sandra Bullock, Gravity
Judi Dench, Philomena
Emma Thompson, Saving Mr Banks
Kate Winslet, Labor Day
Easy, Cate Blanchett, she is a favorite, and strong consistent winner, and nominee.
Will Win: Cate Blanchett-Blue Jasmine
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
Chiwetel Ejiofor, 12 Years A Slave
Idris Elba, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom
Tom Hanks, Captain Phillips
Matthew McConaughey, Dallas Buyers Club
Robert Redford, All Is Lost
Sorry just because he is Robert Redford does not mean he is going to win.  My money is on the bigger star of the year McConaughey.  12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor has a strong chance as well.  So I am going to go out on a limb, and Ejiofor who has been nominated for five Globes and never won.
Will Win: Chiwetel Ejiofor-12 Years a Slave, Spoiler: Matthew McConaughey-Dallas Buyers Club
BEST MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
AMERICAN HUSTLE
Columbia Pictures and Annapurna Pictures; Sony Pictures Releasing
HER
Warner Bros. Pictures / Annapurna Pictures; Warner Bros. Pictures
INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS
Mike Zoss Productions, Scott Rudin Productions, Studio Canal; CBS Films
NEBRASKA
Paramount Vantage; Paramount Pictures
THE WOLF OF WALL STREET
Paramount Pictures and Red Granite Pictures; Paramount Pictures
Easy win, American Hustle, if there is any spoiler it could be Wolf whose publicity is creating a surge.
Will Win: American Hustle
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
Amy Adams, American Hustle
Julie Delpy, Before Midnight
Greta Gerwig, Francis Ha
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Enough Said
Meryl Streep, August: Osage County
I do not understand how people think Meryl has this in the bag; she has lost this award before, she is not invincible.  This goes to Amy Adams who has never won a major prize and is in a Best Picture favorite.
Will Win: Amy Adams-American Hustle
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
Christian Bale, American Hustle
Bruce Dern, Nebraska
Leonardo DiCaprio, The Wolf Of Wall Street
Oscar Isaac, Inside Llewyn Davis
Joaquin Phoenix, Her
My gut says Dern, but I think he may start his award train at SAG, or surprise at Oscar.  I think Leonardo DiCaprio seems like sure fire winner big star, showy role how could he lose.  Could we be under estimating Bale?  Possibly.  Hell even Joaquin Phoenix may win.  This is crazy competitive.
Will Win: Leonardo DiCaprio-The Wolf of Wall Street, Spoiler Everyone!

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE
Sally Hawkins, Blue Jasmine
Jennifer Lawrence, American Hustle
Lupita Nyong’o, 12 Years A Slave
Julia Roberts, August: Osage County
June Squibb, Nebraska
Well the Globes do not mind back to back wins in separate categories, especially with a big name star, which sounds like Lawrence.  I will bet money she wins the Globe, the problem is that this will pattern will not carry throughout award season so don't bank on two time Oscar winner coming before her name anytime soon.  Watch out for Julia, she is great, and Lupita is the new girl in town.
Will Win: Jennifer Lawrence-American Hustle, Spoiler Lupita Nyong'a-12 Years a Slave
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE
Barkhad Abdi, Captain Phillips
Daniel Bruhl, Rush
Bradley Cooper, American Hustle
Michael Fassbender, 12 Years A Slave
Jared Leto, Dallas Buyers Club
This is a two man race between Leto and Fassbender.  Leto has rule pre-cursor awards, and I think like Cate Blanchett he is a lock to win this prize, but watch out for past nominee Fassbender.
Will Win: Jared Leto-Dallas Buyers Club, Spoiler: Michael Fassbender-12 Years a Slave
BEST DIRECTOR – MOTION PICTURE
Alfonso Cuaron, Gravity
Paul Greengrass, Captain Phillips
Steve McQueen, 12 Years A Slave
Alexander Payne, Nebraska
David O. Russell, American Hustle
Cuaron versus McQueen....and round one goes to Cuaron, like Cameron for Avatar this will impress them, only they are right this time.
Will Win-Alfonso Cuaron-Gravity, Spoiler: Steve McQueen-12 Years a Slave
BEST SCREENPLAY – MOTION PICTURE
Spike Jonze, Her
Bob Nelson, Nebraska
Jeff Pope & Steve Coogan, Philomena
John Ridley, 12 Years A Slave

Globe voters love Philomena, that's where my hunch goes, although American Hustle could be the big winner here.
